Distilled or Deionise Water

• Distilled or deionise water (H₂O) is used in solution preparations for most analysis as it is depleted in interfering impurities.
  
  
• Distilled H₂O is prepared by boiling water and collecting its condensate (cooled steam).
  
  Freshly distilled H₂O is free of any dissolved gases. However, once cooled and with time, will absorb gases like carbon dioxide (CO₂) which may interfere was certain analysis.
  
  
• Deionised H₂O is prepared through ion exchange methods.
  
  
• Both distilled or deionise H₂O will have to be neutralized when added to a measured sample in the titratable acidity determination procedure.
  
  
• Distilled or deionise H₂O can be sourced from most supermarkets.
