H2O Formation Equation.
NaOH(aq) | | < = > | | Na+(aq) | | + | | OH-(aq)
HLa(aq) | | < = > | | H+(aq) | | + | | La-(aq)
OH-(aq) | | + | | H+(aq) | | < = > | | | H2O |
An hydroxide ion (OH-) is basic or alkaline
An hydrogen ion (H+) is acidic.
An water molecule (H2O) is neutral
It can be seen from the above equations that it requires one molecule of NaOH (sodium hydroxide) to neutralize one molecule of HLa (Lactic Acid).
