Raoult's Law -
- Raoult's Law states that the vapour pressure above a liquid is dependant on the mole fraction of the liquid components involved and their individual vapour pressures.
i.e. Ptot = PAXA + PBXB
where PA and PB are the vapour pressures of the A and B components and
XA and XB are the mole fractions.
That is the vapour pressure of water/ethanol solution will ideally lie somewhere in between their individual vapour pressures.
