Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
- The abbreviation for hydrogen peroxide is H2O2, indicating that each molecule of H2O2 contains two (2) atoms of hydrogen (H) and two (2) atoms of oxygen (O).
- H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) is a strong oxidising agent and will oxidise many colour and flavour compounds of grape juice and wine.
- H2O2 will also oxidise SO2 to H2SO4 (sulphuric acid) according to the following equation.
