Oxidative reaction -
- Typically, a substance being oxidised looses electrons to oxygen and forms a bond with the oxygen atom (hence the term oxidation).
E.g. the combustion of methane (CH4)

- Because of oxygen's unreactivity, oxidation is normally mediated by catalysts
